Newcastle United have been linked with a summer move for Everton’s Richarlison – which could interest Alan Shearer.
Newcastle World claim that the Brazilian has been offered to the Magpies, who are ‘open’ to possibly signing him.
That news could raise the eyebrows of Toon legend Shearer, who was not impressed with Richarlison when Newcastle and Everton last met.
Eddie Howe’s side went to Goodison Park in March, looking to bounce back after a 1-0 defeat to Chelsea. Sadly for the Magpies, it was Everton who triumphed as Newcastle conceded late yet again.

It was hardly a thriller on Merseyside, but it was a vital three points for Frank Lampard in his quest to avoid relegation. It was also a bit of a wake up call for Howe’s side, who had previously been on an incredible run.
Alex Iwobi bagged the winner, but it was the antics of Richarlison that angered Toon fans and Shearer.
Richarlison was told he needs to ‘do more’ by Newcastle legend Shearer
Throughout the game, Richarlison was going to ground with ease. It’s become a common sight in the Premier League, with the 24-year-old receiving a lot of criticism for the same issue in last month’s Merseyside derby.
Richarlison had an ongoing battle with Dan Burn when Everton met Newcastle. The Toffees’ number seven spent a lot of time on the deck, which angered Shearer.

“Stop it, goodness me,” he said on commentary duty for Amazon Prime (17/3/22).
“He’s got to do better, one v one, he’s got to do more for his team in that situation.”
While he’s certainly a battler and gets in the face of the opposition, his antics would not go down well at St James’ Park. It’s embarrassing. And it doesn’t make him appear like the right kind of character for Eddie Howe.
Character is a huge factor at Newcastle right now in terms of recruitment. Big money attracts big players, but not necessarily the right people.

The Magpies’ recruitment team did well in January, bringing in good personalities as well as good footballers.
Now Richarlison is certainly a good footballer – that’s difficult to deny – but he doesn’t feel like a good fit for this new and ambitious Newcastle being led by Howe.
A move for the Brazil international would certainly met with question marks, especially from Shearer.
