Newcastle United slumped to back-to-back defeats on Thursday night, losing 1-0 to Everton.
The Magpies dominated most of the opening 45 minutes, but were unable to really lay a glove on the Toffees in the second half.
It was an extremely poor game of football, with Everton snatching the three points in the 99th minute. It was a disappointing night for the Toon, and here are our player ratings.
Martin Dubravka – 7/10

The Magpies stopper could do nothing to stop Alex Iwobi’s winner – a smart finish from Everton winger. Dubravka had a relatively quiet night, and what he had to do he did well.
Emil Krafth – 6/10
A surprise starter at Goodison Park, but Krafth probably didn’t do enough to justify his selection. He was booked in the second half for a foul on Richarlison.
Fabian Schar – 7/10
Schar donned the captain’s armband, and played a part in limiting Everton’s chances. He was positive in possession too, providing some neat forward passes.
Dan Burn – 6/10

Probably his most disappointing performance since joining the club. Burn was embroiled in a duel with Richarlison all night, just days after his battle wit Kai Havertz. The defender probably could have done better for the winner, diving in to try and stop Iwobi.
Matt Targett – 7/10
Another typical Matt Targett performance down the left. He had an excellent first half, with his crosses causing real problems for Everton.
Miguel Almiron – 5/10
Full of running as always, but desperately lacking in quality. Almiron’s best moment was his last, bursting down the right and almost putting it on a plate for Bruno Guimaraes.
Joe Willock – 5/10

The returning midfielder came close late on for Newcastle, but will be disappointed with his overall performance. He certainly faded in the second half.
Bruno Guimaraes – 8/10
The one true star on the pitch for Newcastle. While the Magpies struggled, Bruno was excellent. He was brilliant on the ball, and worked tirelessly off it. Newcastle have a real player on their hands.
Joelinton – 6/10
It was exciting to see Joelinton back in the starting XI, who continued where he left off. The Brazilian was a real presence in the middle, and had a brilliant first half. But like so many he faded in the second.
Ryan Fraser – 6/10

This was a disappointing night for Fraser. He almost had a chance to give Newcastle the lead in the first half, but was denied by Seamus Coleman. The Scot was totally anonymous in the second half.
Chris Wood – 5/10
Battled hard as he always does, but missed a few decent chances. The scrappy nature of the second half probably didn’t suit him, with aimless balls punted back and forth.
