When Kieran Trippier signed for Newcastle United, there was a lot of buzz around the move. Not only was it Toon’s first signing under the new owners, but a player with immense quality.
However, some fans (the majority of them not being Newcastle fans), thought that Trippier moved to Tyneside purely for the money. While it’s no secret that the Magpies’ new owners certainly have an enormous amount of wealth, the new signing has shown he’s not all about the money.
On and off the pitch, the England international has shown tremendous character. He’s even worn the armband for Newcastle in their 1-0 win over Aston Villa.

Tripper’s recent actions against Brentford is another example of his commitment to Newcastle
The right-back suffered an injury against Villa after netting the only goal of the game earlier on. But off the pitch, Trippier has displayed his commitment to the club.
This past weekend, the Magpies won 2-0 against Brentford. The 31-year-old travelled down to London with the rest of the team on crutches. It’s evident that the Englishman still wants to provide his leadership qualities in any way he can.
Whilst any club that would’ve wanted to sign him will have needed the funds to afford him. His actions demonstrate he’s more than passionate about his new club. That passion and desire will only make Trippier beloved even more by some fans.

His return from injury is not yet known, but hopefully, he can return before the end of the season. His return to the squad will certainly provide Eddie Howe and the team a big boost.
Newcastle since the start of 2022 has managed to stay undefeated despite many injuries. Big names like Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin have missed fixtures this calendar year. However, the Toon have managed to pick up many important wins without them.
It could be a while before we see Trippier put on a black and white shirt. But it’s clear that he’s doing all he can to positively impact the team from the sidelines.
