Newcastle United are coming to a streaming service near you, with the Magpies’ upcoming Amazon Prime series set to be released next month.

It has been almost six months since talk of the documentary broke, and now we know when we will get a behind the scenes look at what was an incredible season on Tyneside.

The news was announced on Wednesday that the first episode of Newcastle’s Amazon series, which is called ‘We Are Newcastle United’, will be available on August 11th – one day before the new Premier League season kicks off.

The four-part series will provide fans with a fresh chance to relive last season, as the Amazon cameras go behind the scenes and in the dressing room during a spectacular campaign.

Based on the trailer, it already looks fantastic. We hear some snippets from Eddie Howe‘s team-talks, and it is no wonder the players went out and delivered for him!

Toon fans are really excited to sit down and watch, and now they know that it will be narrated by a club legend.

Alan Shearer to narrate Newcastle’s Amazon Prime series

Following the release of the trailer, Newcastle United’s record goalscorer Alan Shearer took to Twitter to tell fans about his role in the project.

He wrote: “It was good fun narrating this, and listening to some very interesting stories from behind the scenes!”

Who better than Shearer to talk us through the footage Amazon caught during their time behind the scenes at Newcastle?

The narrator had to be a Geordie, and Shearer is the perfect fit. It was either that or Ant and Dec, but it probably wouldn’t work with them saying a word each!

Shearer will be the soothing tone as we watch Howe’s Magpies in full flow, with fans keen to learn all about how the Toon boss guided us back into the Champions League.

The former number nine is a brilliant pick, and we are now even more excited to hear the ‘interesting stories’ that he alludes to.
