The new Newcastle United third kit has been launched for the 2025/26 season, and it is an absolute beauty.
For the second season in a row, it looks like Adidas are knocking it out of the park with their Newcastle United kits.
Newcastle United fans love the new home kit, which is, staggeringly, black and white. But the away kits give Adidas the opportunity to be a bit more creative, and they are once again tapping into the club’s history like they did last season.
The leaked Newcastle United third kit has proven to be pretty accurate, with the shirt based on the away one that the club wore during the 1997/98 season. It also uses the Adidas Trefoil logo, which makes it look even more iconic.
Newcastle United launch new Adidas third kit with brilliant video
Newcastle United launched the shirt with an incredible video, starring and narrated by Sam Fender.
It includes current heroes such as Bruno Guimaraes, Sandro Tonali and Alexander Isak, as well as Toon legends like Tino Asprilla and Jonas Gutierrez. There is also a wonderful clip of Cheick Tiote, who sadly passed away in 2017, scoring his famous volley against Arsenal.
To end the video, there is a hilarious recreation of one of Steve Bruce’s most iconic moments as Newcastle United manager. Comedian Asim Chaudhry mumbles ‘how has the break been then, Dan?’ to Toon defender Dan Burn. The 33-year-old, leaning over the bar at the Tyneside Irish Centre, replies ‘how’s the bacon, did you say?’.
Why Steve Bruce asked ‘how’s the bacon’ during a Newcastle United press conference
This is in reference to what happened during a Bruce press conference in February 2020.
After returning from a two-week winter break, Bruce was asked by a reporter: “How’s the break been then, Steve?”
He immediately replied: “How’s the bacon, did you say?”
The media room burst out laughing, as did Bruce. It was a hilarious moment that immediately became a meme.
Fast forward five years and Newcastle United have recreated it as part of their Adidas kit launch. It is a hilarious nod to the past that Toon fans will love, and hopefully Bruce sees the funny side too!
