Eddie Howe never takes the Newcastle United fans for granted, but even he was stunned by what the Toon Army did during the 4-0 win over Crystal Palace.

The Magpies smashed Roy Hodgson’s side to move up to fifth in the Premier League table, with the likes of Jacob Murphy shining during another emphatic victory.

It was yet another impressive performance from Newcastle United, who are in great form. However, they now look set to lose a key player.

That is because Sandro Tonali appears to be set for a ban from football for betting. He is being investigated by the Italian Football Federation, and the 23-year-old has admitted to prosecutors during a hearing last week that he previously bet on AC Milan to win games when he played for the club, as stated by Sky Sports.

Tonali and the club are now awaiting the verdict, with the midfielder expected to receive a ban.

Until then, he is eligible to play, and came off the bench during Newcastle‘s 4-0 win over Crystal Palace. He received a huge show of love and support from the fans when he came onto the pitch. In fact, he received that love and support throughout the afternoon, both before and after the game.

A Sandro Tonali banner took centre stage during Wor Flags’ pre-match display, while the £55million summer signing led the way during the team’s post-match lap of appreciation.

Tonali was showered with support by the Toon Army, who proved they will back the Italy international during this incredibly difficult period.

Eddie Howe delighted with Newcastle fans’ support for Sandro Tonali

After the game, Howe spoke to NUFC TV and was asked about the fans’ support for Tonali on Saturday afternoon.

“The crowd were absolute class with Sandro,” he said.

“I thought the flag pre-game, the support he had during the game when he came on and the scenes at the end were emotional for me, for him, for everybody.

“I’m sure when he sits and reflects on the game and how the supporters embraced him will make a huge difference to him.”

Every Newcastle fan is with Tonali during this difficult time

It was brilliant to witness the support Tonali received on Saturday. The entire club is with him during this difficult time, no matter what the verdict is of his hearing.

When Tonali signed for Newcastle United, he became part of a family, and this family will back him through thick and thin.

It is an incredibly difficult moment for Tonali, and it will likely get even tougher when a ban is confirmed. But he can be safe in the knowledge that he has the complete support of the club and the fans.

The Toon Army showed that on Saturday, and Eddie Howe was absolutely blown away by the support that Tonali got.
