Tino Livramento has not been at Newcastle United long, but he is already feeling the love on Tyneside.
The 21-year-old signed for the Magpies in the summer, costing £32million from Southampton following their relegation from the Premier League.
It was not a straightforward deal to do, with negotiations dragging on over how much the defender was worth. But Newcastle eventually got their man, as Eddie Howe secured the services of the player who will replace Kieran Trippier when the time comes.
That is the thing with Livramento – he arrived at Newcastle knowing he would not be first choice. He was always going to be playing second fiddle to Trippier, but would have the chance to learn from him before eventually take his place.
He had to think long-term, and the right-back has now admitted that it was a very ‘tough decision’ to leave Southampton and move to the North East. However, it is a decision he is delighted he made.
Tino Livramento on his decision to sign for Newcastle
Livramento is currently with England Under-21s, and spoke to the Daily Mail ahead of their game against Serbia. He was asked about his summer move to Newcastle.
“The move was a tough decision, don’t get me wrong,” he said.
“Anyone in my position, to have that opportunity, would do what I’ve done.
“It’s a new experience, not only a new club but a new part of England all the way up north. It’s been exciting.
“There are a lot of fans you see when you go out for a coffee but they’re always respectful, nice and kind. It feels like a family up there, everyone loves you.”

Newcastle fans already love Livramento
It was a difficult decision, but one that Livramento knew he wanted to make. He was eager to join the Toon project, and is already being justified in his decision.
The defender is playing much more frequently right now, and is always impressing whenever he is given the chance to perform by Eddie Howe.
His first start against Manchester City was exceptional, while he was also outstanding in the 3-0 win at Old Trafford. Livramento has been Newcastle’s Carabao Cup hero so far, but is now being used more in the Premier League and the Champions League.
That is down to Newcastle’s injury crisis, but Livramento looks very at home in the Toon starting XI. He is an immensely talented player, and the right-back position is in very safe hands when Trippier decides to call it a day.
He made a smart decision in signing for Newcastle, and fans remind him every week as they shower him with chants of ‘Tino! Tino! Tino!’.
