How much Bayern Munich believe they will have to pay to sign Kieran Trippier from Newcastle

It looks like Bayern Munich have called off their bid to sign Kieran Trippier from Newcastle United, and it is easy to understand why.

Thomas Tuchel’s side made three bids to sign the 33-year-old, all of which were rejected by Newcastle United.

The most recent offer was a permanent one worth around £13million, which would have seen the Magpies make a profit of £1million. That is not bad for an ageing player whose contract expires in 2025.

But Newcastle have said no and decided that Kieran Trippier is going nowhere. The only way he could leave is if Bayern make a ridiculous offer for him, and now journalist Ben Jacobs has shared details of how much the Bundesliga side believe they would have to pay.

Bayern think Newcastle want £21million for Kieran Trippier

According to Ben Jacobs, Bayern believe that it will cost £21million to sign Trippier from Newcastle United this month. However, he adds that Newcastle’s stance is that an asking price has never been quoted.

£21million would be a huge amount to pay for a 33-year-old, so it is understandable that Bayern have walked away. They would be foolish to spend that much money on Trippier, even if it would put a smile on Harry Kane’s face!

Unless Bayern return to the table with a crazy offer, Trippier is going to be staying at St James’ Park. That is excellent news as he is such an important player.

A lot has been made of his recent form. There was a noticeable dip in his performances late last year, but up until that loss of form he was one of Newcastle’s best players. He has been lethal in the final third, helping himself to eight assists in all competitions.

His attacking output is incredible, while at his best he is a sensational one-on-one defender. That has not been the case over the past six weeks, but Eddie Howe will have faith that his vice-captain can soon get back to his best.

And it looks like that will be happening in a black and white shirt – unless Bayern come back with a big bid that Newcastle would be crazy to turn down.
