Brought on for Tino Livramento during the draw with Bournemouth on Sunday, what Trippier did at full-time was certainly noteworthy given all the talk about his future.

According to The Chronicle, various members of staff threw an arm around the 33-year-old at the full-time whistle while away fans were chanting “Kieran Trippier, over the wall.”
Interestingly, Trippier is said to have followed Bruno Guimaraes over to clap the travelling support, with the Brazilian repeatedly pointing to his teammate in an effort to get fans to keep serenading Trippier.
The defender then threw his shirt into the crowd and cut an emotional figure on his way back to the dressing room.

Guimaraes has been installed as team captain this season, replacing Trippier with the armband.
With the timing of that decision understood to have disappointed Trippier, things could well have been awkward.
However, to see Guimaraes look to support the England international during a time in which he’s lost his starting berth and continues to be linked away speaks to a real leader in the squad.
It remains to be seen if Newcastle fans get to see Trippier in action for the club again.
