Sky Sports journalist says 21-year-old Newcastle player was really struggling at full-time last night

What Newcastle United categorically do not need right now are more injuries.

Newcastle travel to Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday before hosting AC Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Having been well beaten at Everton on Thursday night, its obvious there is an element of fatigue creeping in.

Though not the only reason for the defeat (missed chances and Kieran Trippier’s mistakes probably played a bigger part), the fact Eddie Howe is relying on so few players cannot be ignored.

Indeed, it appeared as if one of them was struggling last night.

Tino Livramento: Newcastle star could ‘barely run’ against Everton

As was pointed out by Sky Sports journalist Joe Shread during the outlet’s live coverage of the game, Livramento could “barely run” towards the end of the game.

The 21-year-old has been Newcastle’s starting left-back since Dan Burn got injured and continues to impress, though simply cannot be afforded much rest due to the lack of available bodies.

“Livramento, among others, looks like he can barely run as the minutes tick down,” he said at 21.26 GMT on 08/12/2023.

“Injuries have been brutal for Newcastle and the demands of domestic and European football are catching up on them.”

Tino Livramento: Baptism of fire for Newcastle star

Livramento was not expected to be a starting regular for Newcastle this season when he first arrived from Southampton.

Still, with Burn out, he’s had to play on the opposite flank to Trippier, when he was initially brought in as a high-level back-up.

Now, his regular inclusion in the squad has been a good thing. Impressive again at Goodison Park even despite the result, he looks bound for a successful Newcastle career.

In an ideal world, he would be afforded a rest but Lewis Hall does not look near the same level right now and the schedule simply does not allow for Howe to rotate amid so many injuries.
