Newcastle United staff have been keen to remind Chelsea loanee Lewis Hall that he is only 19-years-old and has plenty of time to develop into a first-team star.
Newcastle have had to be patient with Hall who is clearly an exciting talent but needs time to develop before he can be a first-team regular.
The Athletic have now revealed that Newcastle’s staff have been repeatedly telling the left-back that he has time on his side and that, in the years to come, he will be a crucial part of this team.
Newcastle need to be patient with Hall
Hall has played just 218 minutes in a Newcastle shirt, so even if he was an established first-team regular elsewhere, it can’t be expected that he just slots in and will immediately settle down in a completely new environment.
Taking his age and experience into consideration as well, it would be ridiculous to expect star quality performances from the young man so early on in his Newcastle career.
As The Athletic have reported, Eddie Howe’s staff appreciate that Hall has a lot of talent, but acknowledge it will take time before we can see the best of him at Newcastle.
His performance against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup, in which he scored, gave us a glimpse into the future with the teenager playing brilliantly down the left even though he was meant to be playing further up prior to Matt Targett’s injury.

Newcastle are ahead of the curve
In order to succeed, Newcastle will of course have to be in the market for established starters like they were with Sandro Tonali or Harvey Barnes in the summer.
But in many ways, these players can be the obvious choices when scouting talent – anyone can understand that Barnes was a quality Premier League player at Leicester with an eye for a goal.
The real challenge is supplementing that first-team talent with potential, and that’s exactly what Newcastle have done with the signing of Lewis Hall. He may not be a starter now, but he’s going to grow alongside the club in the years to come.
Under the direction of Howe and his staff, there’s no reason to think that Hall cannot become the starting left-back at Newcastle for the next 10 years, and the fact that he is a boyhood fan, just like Dan Burn, makes it even better.
