The referee has been confirmed for Newcastle United’s trip to Fulham on Saturday.
The Magpies will hope to continue their bright start to the season at the weekend, after Newcastle United’s 2-1 win over Wolves.
Eddie Howe’s side came from behind to win at Molineux, with Harvey Barnes’ screamer from distance giving Newcastle all three points. The result means that Newcastle are unbeaten, and sit third in the Premier League.
It has been an outstanding start to the campaign, and it can get even better with a win at Craven Cottage.

Peter Bankes to referee Fulham vs Newcastle United
Chris Kavanagh took charge of Wolves vs Newcastle on Sunday, and it was a game that went by without any majorly controversial incidents – a rarity in the Premier League nowadays!
Now it has been announced who the referee will be on Saturday, with Peter Bankes the man in the middle for Fulham vs Newcastle United.
His assistants will be Eddie Smart and Nick Greenhalgh, with Leigh Doughty the fourth official. Rob Jones is on VAR, and his assistant will be Mark Scholes.
Interestingly, it will be Bankes’ first Premier League game as referee since December 2023, when he took charge of Bournemouth’s 3-0 win over Manchester United.

Bankes let Bruno Guimaraes off last time he refereed Newcastle
The last time he was referee for a Newcastle United game was October 2023, when he was the main official for the Magpies’ Premier League clash with West Ham United at the London Stadium.
On that day, Newcastle threw away a 2-1 lead to draw with the Hammers. Alexander Isak scored a brace, while Bruno Guimaraes was very lucky to avoid a red card.
The Brazilian midfielder was booked in the first half for a foul on Emerson Palmieri, and then risked another yellow just moments later when he took out James Ward-Prowse.
Fortunately for Newcastle, Bankes opted not to give Bruno Guimaraes a second booking, which was a mistake in the eyes of Toon legend Alan Shearer.
“Just for clarity and just to show there’s no bias I thought it should have been a red card,” he told BBC Match Of The Day 2.
“I know Bruno didn’t agree with this one, but he does stick his leg out there and it is rightly a yellow card and then 90 seconds later the second tackle and he’s fortunate. On another day I think the correct decision there would have been a yellow and therefore a red.”
West Ham were also furious with Newcastle’s equaliser, as it had come from a free-kick that was extremely soft.
The game’s biggest decisions went Newcastle’s way, and it will be interesting to see how Bankes performs at Craven Cottage this weekend.
