Newcastle United will be looking for revenge against Chelsea as they return to Stamford Bridge.

The Magpies’ last visit to West London was agonising, as Eddie Howe‘s side were knocked out of the Carabao Cup on penalties. Newcastle missed an incredible chance to go to Wembley again and challenge for silverware, with a couple of Kieran Trippier mistakes costing them dearly.

He will not be involved against Chelsea on this occasion, with the 33-year-old now out of action with a calf injury.

Eddie Howe is going to have to make at least one change to his team on Monday night, and this is the Newcastle XI we predict him to pick against Chelsea

Tino Livramento starts against former club Chelsea

With Trippier ruled out, Tino Livramento will have the chance to start at right-back. He will be facing his former club, having left Chelsea in 2021.

This will be a great chance to show his former employers what they are missing, and reinforce to Newcastle fans that they are in safe hands when Trippier eventually leaves the club.

He will be joined in defence by the usual suspects, with Fabian Schar, Sven Botman and Dan Burn making up the rest of the back four.

Joe Willock retains his place in Newcastle XI

It has been a fantastic return to fitness for Joe Willock, who has looked really good since recovering from an Achilles injury.

His impact in midfield was evident against Wolves, and the lengthy gap between that game and this one with Chelsea should result in the 24-year-old starting again as he continues to build up his fitness.

Miguel Almiron in, Jacob Murphy out

While one change is enforced, Eddie Howe might be tempted to make a second alteration to the XI that beat Wolves.

We predict that Miguel Almiron will come into the side for Jacob Murphy, who is not doing enough to be a regular starter in the Premier League. The £12million man is better as an impact sub, and that should be his role against Chelsea on Monday night.
