Newcastle United have been dealt a big blow ahead of Sunday’s pre-season friendly against Tottenham in Seoul.

Newcastle finish their pre-season tour of Asia with a game against Spurs in the South Korean capital, with Eddie Howe’s side looking for their first win of the summer.

The Magpies have endured a dreadful summer transfer window, making only two senior signings thus far and they have been forced to deal with the ongoing Alexander Isak saga.

Isak did not join Newcastle’s tour of Asia due to a thigh injury, although the sheer amount of speculation about his future at the club is difficult to ignore.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Newcastle United team news.

Newcastle United confirmed team news vs Tottenham

Joe Willock has been ruled out of Newcastle’s friendly against Tottenham after suffering an injury during the 1-0 defeat to Team K-League earlier this week.

While Willock has avoided serious injury, the Newcastle United manager has confirmed: “We initially feared he could have injured part of his Achilles, but thankfully that wasn’t the case. But it looks like he’s got a problem with a muscle in the calf.

“So we feel the injury isn’t as serious as maybe first feared, which is great news for Joe, but it’s still going to keep him out for a number of weeks.

“How many we’re not sure, but early diagnosis is looking four to six, which, although being a blow, is probably much better than the initial thought. So some positive news on Joe Willock.”

Sven Botman is a doubt for Newcastle against Spurs following a groin injury sustained in the 3-2 loss to Arsenal in Singapore.

Lewis Hall has resumed full training at Newcastle, although it remains to be seen if he’s brought back into the fold at this stage.

Changes, however, are expected throughout the game as Howe looks to build up the collective fitness of his squad.
