Newcastle United are enjoying a sensational run of form unlike anything seen in recent years.
It’s now nine straight wins in all competitions for Eddie Howe’s side. The Newcastle boss has now done what only Kevin Keegan and Rafael Benitez have done before by hitting that mark.
Star striker Alexander Isak made it eight consecutive Premier League games with a goal. Moving him closer to Jamie Vardy’s near-decade-long record of 11 games. Newcastle defender Sven Botman has challenged Isak to break the Premier League record.
Newcastle’s win over Wolves means it’s also a return to the top four as they look to replicate the 2022/23 season by qualifying for the Champions League.

Things are definitely on the up on Tyneside where records and streaks seem to be getting broken left right and centre. Newcastle’s win at Manchester United was their first Premier League victory at Old Trafford since 2013. Howe also won his first game at the Emirates Stadium against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.
This Newcastle side has a new lease of life. Yet another streak was snapped thanks to the win on Wednesday.

Newcastle do the double over Wolves for the first time since 1905/06
In recent years, Wolves were a tough team to beat for Newcastle. However, since 2022, the Magpies have only dropped points against them twice in their last seven meetings.
Draws in the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons have prevented Newcastle from doing the double over Wolves. But the win last night meant Newcastle completed the feat for the first time since the 1905/06 season, over 118 years ago.
Even during their season in the Championship, Newcastle lost to Wolves at St James’ Park when they were undoubtedly favourites to win.
Newcastle bagged the win in their first meeting of the season at Molineux. Goals from Fabian Schar and Harvey Barnes secured all three points after they initially went behind in the first half.
Newcastle have also lost just once against Wolves in their previous 12 meetings, a 2-1 defeat in October 2021. It also happened to be the last match before Newcastle’s takeover.
Howe must break another Newcastle streak on Saturday
After Wednesday’s win, confidence is at an all-time high. European football looks even more likely as the weeks go on and another cup final is just 90 minutes away.
However, Newcastle travel to Bournemouth on Saturday where they must do something Howe has never done before.
Howe has never beaten Bournemouth in the Premier League. Even after five attempts he has drawn four and lost once, Newcastle’s form puts them in the driver’s seat to snap another streak at an important time of the season.
Newcastle have beaten Bournemouth under Howe before. The Toon boss oversaw their win in the Carabao Cup fourth round back in 2022.
