Bruno Guimaraes produced another captain’s display as Newcastle United beat Manchester United on Monday night.

It is now five wins in a row in all competitions for Eddie Howe’s side, as Newcastle United won 2-0 against Manchester United.

It was frighteningly comfortable at Old Trafford, with Alan Shearer delighted with Newcastle’s performance.

The Magpies were better in every department from the first minute to the last, as they moved up to fifth in the Premier League.

Newcastle were relentless in the first half, and should have scored more than two goals.

The second half was more about the Magpies’ defensive efforts, as they closed out the game to pick up their first Premier League win at Old Trafford since 2013.

Howe’s men were more than happy to defend, and Bruno Guimaraes summed that up in stoppage time.

As Man United tried to force their way back into the game, Bruno produced a beautiful tackle to reclaim possession from Alejandro Garnacho.

The 27-year-old then won a throw-in, which resulted in the Brazilian letting out a huge roar.

That moment in the 92nd minute is the kind of thing we always see at St James’ Park in front of the Newcastle United fans. It gees up the crowd, but on this occasion Bruno simply just did it for himself in front of the despondent Man United supporters.

It was an outstanding performance from the Toon skipper, who yet again won the battle of the Brunos against Manchester United.

However, it was rather easy on this occasion, as Bruno Fernandes was suspended.

But that did not stop the Newcastle United fans making it clear who the superior midfielder is.

During the 75th minute of the game at Old Trafford, Toon fans could be heard chanting: “There’s only one Bruno.”

Since becoming a Newcastle United player in January 2022, Bruno Guimaraes has had the better of Bruno Fernandes. The Brazil international has won four times out of seven against Man United, including Monday night’s 2-0 triumph.
