Newcastle United fans bound to love what Crystal Palace fans chanted at Liverpool’s Alexander Isak

Crystal Palace fans enjoyed mocking a certain former Newcastle United striker in Alexander Isak during their win over Liverpool on Saturday.

Isak made his first Premier League start for Liverpool during their defeat to Palace and was unable to get on the scoresheet.

While it is true that the Sweden star has scored for his new club, that was against Championship side Southampton in the Carabao Cup.

Clearly, it’s difficult to imagine a player as good as Isak struggling long-term in a team as talented as Liverpool’s.

Still, it’s really yet to truly click at an admittedly early stage. Indeed, his lack of a pre-season at Newcastle appears to be costing him during the opening few weeks of the campaign.

Palace fans, who watched their side become the first team to beat Liverpool in a competitive fixture this season, enjoyed aiming a chant at the Sweden international.

Crystal Palace fans tell Liverpool that Alexander Isak was a waste of money

As per Gregg Evans of The Athletic on social media platform X, Eagles fans at Selhurst Park had a rather funny chant directed towards Isak.

With the forward relatively ineffective against Oliver Glasner’s side, the home supporters were keen to poke fun at just how much Liverpool paid for his services.

The journalist noted that the home support were chanting: “What a waste of money.”

Liverpool broke the British transfer record to sign Isak, with the deal thought to be worth in the region of between £125-£130million.

The one Newcastle United star who isn’t missing Alexander Isak

Much has been made about Newcastle’s lack of goals without Isak in the team.

However, if there’s one player who doesn’t appear to have hugely struggled with the Sweden star’s exit, it’s a certain Jacob Murphy

The winger built up a brilliant rapport with Isak during their time together on Tyneside but continues to impress even without one of the best forwards in the world to operate alongside.

Murphy is starring even without Isak at Newcastle, racking up two assists already this season.
