Jamie Reuben has thanked Newcastle fans after Eddie Howe’s side beat Fulham 4-1.

It was an easy afternoon for the Magpies, with Marco Silva’s team going down to 10 men early on. Nathaniel Chalobah saw red for a nasty challenge on Sean Longstaff, and Newcastle dominated after that moment.

Goals came from Callum Wilson, Longstaff and a Miguel Almiron double, but in truth it could have been more. Howe’s side had plenty of opportunities, and will know that the scoreline could have been even more convincing.

But the most important thing was to get back to winning ways. And they did it in front of a packed out away end. That’s no surprise given Newcastle’s sensational support, but it was a difficult journey to Craven Cottage.

And co-owner Reuben has sent Toon fans a message after the full time whistle.

Jamie Reuben’s message to Newcastle fans after win over Fulham

The 10% shareholder was at Craven Cottage for the game, and was joined by Amanda Staveley, Mehrdad Ghodoussi and famous fan Declan Donnelly. However, Ant was nowhere to be seen.

After the game, Reuben took to Twitter to react to the victory.

He wrote: “Great performance from NUFC. Thank you to the traveling Mags for their incredible support and making what was a difficult trip down today.”

Reuben’s ‘difficult’ message is in relation to the train strikes that made it very tough for Newcastle fans to get to Craven Cottage. But the Toon Army did what they do best. They travelled in their thousands and were loud and proud throughout the game.

Nothing can stop Toon supporters watching their team. But the train strikes have proven to be a real issue.

Interestingly, a similar problem saw Brighton vs Crystal Palace postponed last month. But Newcastle fans were forced to soldier on, and were rewarded for their unrivalled loyalty.

Howe’s side put on a show, and the result moves them up to seventh in the table. It is only Newcastle’s second win of the season, and it came at the perfect time.

The confidence will be flowing now, and St James’ Park should be rocking next weekend when Newcastle return home to face Brentford.
