Newcastle United were not good enough against Chelsea on Monday night, but one Toon player certainly impressed Jamie Carragher.
While it was a dismal performance from Eddie Howe’s side, they did score two incredible goals. The second by Jacob Murphy was an absolute rocket, but sadly it did not lead to a last-gasp comeback.
Alexander Isak also got on the scoresheet, and while his goal was not as emphatic, it was certainly a wonderful strike from the Swede.
He curled a glorious effort into the Chelsea net to make it 1-1 before half time, as he continues to channel his inner Thierry Henry. It was a spectacular finish, with Isak now boasting 16 goals in all competitions this season.
He is closing in on the 20-goal milestone, which will be an incredible achievement when he, hopefully, gets there.
The 24-year-old truly is a superstar, and someone who Jamie Carragher loves watching.
Jamie Carragher absolutely loves Alexander Isak
During Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football coverage, Carragher waxed lyrical about Isak and his ability after his goal against Chelsea.
“I never stop raving about this guy, I love him,” he said.

Newcastle striker up there with the Premier League’s best
The former Liverpool defender has massively praised Isak in the past as well. He is a huge fan of the Magpies’ most expensive signing ever, and the Swede continues to prove why he is worthy of such adulation from Carragher.
Isak is up there with the Premier League’s best. Other than Erling Haaland, you could argue that Isak is the best striker in the division. He is for my money, at least.
His goal against Chelsea certainly strengthens that argument. It was a breathtaking finish from distance, and it perfectly encapsulated why he is such a deadly finisher.
Sadly, the goal was for nothing. It came on a disappointing night for Newcastle United, as they fell to a rather worrying 3-2 defeat.
