Newcastle United welcome Liverpool to St James’ Park on Monday night in a huge Premier League game.

Newcastle United vs Liverpool will be quite the occasion on only the second week of the 2025/26 Premier League campaign.

Indeed, it’s already one of the most iconic fixtures in the history of English football but recent events give it an added level of intrigue.

Arne Slot says he didn’t “forget” what Newcastle did to Liverpool last season and that seems to have been the case.

After Newcastle beat Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final back in March, the Reds have been trying to make life very difficult for Eddie Howe’s side.

Not only did Liverpool beat Newcastle to the signing of Hugo Ekitike, they are also trying to sign Alexander Isak.

Isak has reacted badly to Newcastle refusing to sell him and is not expected to feature in the game.

For the players who are involved, however, it will be a fiercely contested clash under the lights on Tyneside. With that in mind, here’s everything you need to know about where to watch it.

Newcastle United vs Liverpool stats

Alarmingly for Newcastle United, they have now gone 17 Premier League matches without a win against Liverpool.

Their last victory against the Reds came back when Steve McClaren’s Newcastle shocked Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at St James’ Park in 2015.

Still, the omens are promising. They have won all three home games Newcastle have played under Howe to start the season.

Liverpool are also in some reasonably poor away form. Though the fact they wrapped up the title reasonably early last season may explain their drop-off, Slot’s side have lost three of their last four away games in the Premier League.
