Newcastle United round off their pre-season preparations with a huge game against Atletico Madrid in the Sela Cup on Saturday.

The Premier League season is fast approaching for Newcastle United, which is hardly a welcome thought for supporters after a difficult pre-season.

Newcastle have struggled to sign players all summer, while their star man in Alexander Isak wants to leave.

Still, Eddie Howe does boast some brilliant talent in the Newcastle United squad and there remain some reasons to be positive.

Indeed, a big performance against one of Europe’s top sides would lift the morale somewhat too, even if it is only a friendly in the Sela CupNewcastle drew 2-2 with Espanyol on Friday night, meaning they are at risk of going through the entirety of pre-season without a win.

With that in mind, here’s everything you need to know about where to watch the game.

Why Alexander Isak isn’t playing for Newcastle United vs Atletico Madrid

Howe would no doubt love to have one of the world’s leading strikers in Isak available for Saturday’s showpiece game.

Still, Isak wants to leave Newcastle this summer amid interest from Liverpool.

He missed the tour of Asia with a thigh injury, but Howe has now confirmed that the Sweden star has recovered from the issue.

Still, the Newcastle United manager has confirmed that he cannot have Isak training with the rest of the group.

He revealed that while he wanted Isak to stay at the club next season, it’s now “clear” that he cannot train with his Newcastle United teammates as things stand.

The saga drags on with another ugly turn. It’s starting to feel as if there is no way back for him now.
