Newcastle United clash with Atletico Madrid in a heavyweight pre-season fixture as the Sela Cup comes to a close.
On Friday night, Newcastle drew 2-2 with Espanyol in the first game of the Sela Cup, with Matt Targett and Jacob Murphy scoring the goals after the visitors had taken the lead before they eventually struck late.
Fewer than 24 hours later, Eddie Howe’s side meet Atletico at St James’ Park. Diego Simeone’s side will offer a stern test, regardless of the fact this is technically a friendly.
It is Newcastle’s final pre-season game of what has been a difficult summer and they will no doubt be looking to sign off with a statement performance against a top side.
