Furious Brazil fans in complete agreement about Newcastle United star Joelinton after his Colombia display

Newcastle United star Joelinton endured a pretty bruising time of things while playing for Brazil.

Joelinton, of course, is a Newcastle United hero and was widely praised for his performance during Sunday’s stunning Carabao Cup final win over Liverpool.

Indeed, Joelinton was hailed as Newcastle’s best player in the Carabao Cup final but was sadly unable to take that form onto the international stage.

Mitigating circumstances should of be factored in. Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes joined up with Brazil later than their teammates after playing at Wembley, which surely can’t have helped what is already a very long journey.

Still, the midfielder made a major mistake during Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Colombia, which still ended in a 2-1 victory for the Selecao.

Yet to have made himself a fixture of the first-team with his country, Brazil fans were unhappy after the Newcastle United star cheaply gave away possession in the build-up to Luiz Diaz’s equaliser after Raphinha had opened the scoring.

Brazil fans slam Newcastle United star Joelinton

Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior would end up winning the game for the hosts, which sent them to second in the CONMEBOL standings and on course to qualify for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada.

However, Joelinton’s mistake really appears to have riled Brazilian football fans online.

One supporter wrote: “Joelinton destroyed the game lol.”

Another added: “Joelinton came in sleepy, gave away the goal and didn’t give Brazil any security, Gerson was much better in the match.”

“We need a rhythmic midfielder like Toni Kroos. Bruno Guimaraes is too hasty. Joelinton is too rushed,” declared an unhappy fan.

“What we saw was Joelinton doing absolutely nothing in every game he played for the national team, and honestly, the guy plays without pressure in the Premier League, he doesn’t mess around,” was another brutal observation.

“Joelinton and Alisson are unrecognizable, honestly,” claimed another supporter.

Another fan even claimed: “In the Premier League, guys mark the ball out like that, and he never does that. Which makes it clear that he relaxed out of pure arrogance, thinking he would get out of there easily.”

Joelinton’s stats for Brazil against Colombia

The Brazilian media gave Joelinton a 4/10 rating for his performance against Colombia, which is hardly the best showing on his return to the international stage after an almost two-year absence.

The 28-year-old won only three of his eight attempted ground duels, lost possession four times and made one error leading to a goal.

He at least impressed in the air, winning three of his four duels off the ground so it was hardly a disaster and Brazil still won the game but an improvement will no doubt be needed.

Hopefully, Brazil fans soon start to see the Joelinton that Newcastle supporters love so dearly.
