The reason why Newcastle United stars Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton missed Brazil’s first training session

Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton were both in tears after lifting the Carabao Cup with Newcastle United on Sunday.

The Brazilian duo make up two-thirds of Newcastle United’s midfield trio who were completely dominant at Wembley.

Joelinton was the best player on the pitch according to former Newcastle star Isaac Hayden. Eddie Howe his players to be physical in the final, and Joelinton hassled Liverpool’s midfield all game long.

Alongside him was best friend and club captain Bruno Guimaraes, who put on a masterclass in midfield. Guimaraes gave an emotional speech after the full-time whistle, and there is no doubt that he has etched his name into the club history books as a legend.

Newcastle’s celebrations at Wembley were legendary, but for the club’s international players, they had to cut them short.

Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton miss Brazil training

Local hero Dan Burn has met up with the England squad after being called up by Thomas Tuchel – he is joined by Anthony Gordon and Tino Livramento as St George’s Park.

But both Guimaraes and Joelinton were called up by Brazil and faced a lengthier journey to meet up with their international teammates.

The duo jetted off on Monday morning after celebrating their trophy success, but they both sat out of Brazil’s first training session.

Brazil trained on Monday afternoon, but as reported by Brazilian outlet Leouve, both Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton were missing.

They were both given permission to miss the session after only arriving in the country on Monday afternoon. The same applied to Liverpool’s Alisson and Barcelona’s Raphinha.

When Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton will be in action for Brazil

There is hardly any time for Newcastle’s Brazilian duo to celebrate Sunday’s win, with international fixtures right around the corner.

Brazil are currently struggling in their World Cup qualifiers group and are only fifth after 12 games – they will have the chance to improve their record this week.

Starting with a match on Friday against Colombia. Guimaraes and Joelinton will hope to be involved in the match, which kicks off at 12:45am GMT.

Brazil then continue their World Cup campaign with a clash against Argentina, kicking off at midnight on Wednesday, March 26th.

That leaves a couple of days before Newcastle’s open-top bus parade to celebrate their Carabao Cup victory.
