Despite beating Sunderland 3-0 on Saturday, It was not a perfect afternoon for Newcastle United.
It felt like it for the Toon Army, who watched their side advance in the FA Cup and pick up their first derby win since 2011.
Newcastle were dominant against Sunderland, with Bruno Guimaraes and Miguel Almiron playing brilliantly as the Magpies cruised to victory.
They celebrated in style afterwards, taking their traditional post-victory photo in front of the 6,000 Newcastle fans who made the journey to the Stadium Of Light.
They were treated to a derby day victory, but there was one negative to come from the game according to Eddie Howe.
Eddie Howe worried about Joelinton injury during Newcastle win
The Newcastle manager spoke to the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope after the game, and shared some concern over Joelinton‘s fitness after the 27-year-old was forced off early into the second half at the Stadium Of Light.
“One negative is injury to Joelinton,” he said.
“He felt his thigh switching play. We don’t know what that looks like yet.”

Joelinton was immense against Sunderland in the first half
It was a real blow to lose Joelinton shortly after half time, with the Brazilian being replaced by Lewis Miley immediately after Newcastle doubled their lead.
He looked to be in a lot of pain just before the break, and required treatment from the Toon medical team. There was hope when he came out for the second half, but he did not last long.
The Newcastle midfield became notably less ferocious, with Joelinton being one of the Magpies’ best player before his early exit.
He was exceptional in the first half, and it was his combination with Bruno Guimaraes down the left that led to Newcastle taking the lead. He fizzed a ball across the box in the direction of Alexander Isak, only for Dan Ballard to slice it into his own goal.
Joelinton was probably Newcastle’s best player in the first half, and it will be a real shame if he has picked up another injury. He has only just returned, having missed the Carabao Cup exit to Chelsea and the Premier League defeat to Luton Town.
