The Magpies lost 1-0 to a goal in the 99th minute from Alex Iwobi.

The result is extremely tough to take, given Everton had to play around 20 minutes with 10 men.
Their midfielder Allan got sent off for a dangerous lunge on Allan Saint-Maximin, after Craig Pawson had consulted his pitchside monitor after initially giving a yellow card.
Newcastle were flat at Goodison Park tonight.
Arguably, the crowd really help to the spur the hosts on.
It is not a disaster for Newcastle given the club’s superb form in 2022. But it is undoubtedly a big opportunity missed.
The players will now have to stew on the events of tonight over the international break.
It might come at a decent time though, with Newcastle having played four games in 12 days.

Newcastle must use international break to reset
This was such a big opportunity for Newcastle. Especially once the Toffees went down to 10 men.
The Magpies have now got to stew on this result and performance over the international break.
Hopefully the players will be feeling extremely frustrating, and it will lead to a much improved display against Spurs.
