Newcastle United fans witnessed something very ‘special’ against Arsenal on Saturday.
The Magpies got back to winning ways in the Premier League, as they produced a spirited performance that was reminiscent of the Newcastle United of old.
Eddie Howe’s side battled for everything, and Newcastle were far too physical for Arsenal. The work off the ball was tremendous, while Newcastle had much greater balance with Joelinton and Joe Willock rekindling their relationship on the left.
Team spirit and work rate was of the highest quality, but there was also a sprinkling of magic from the Magpies’ creative players.

Alexander Isak scores Newcastle’s winner against Arsenal
The winning goal was outstanding. Newcastle managed to work the ball wide, where Anthony Gordon was on hand to deliver a beautiful cross. Gordon has been compared to David Beckham after his cross, and it was made all the more impressive by Alexander Isak scoring.
The 25-year-old got on the end of Gordon’s cross, directing a header beyond a helpless David Raya. It was a traditional striker’s goal, as Isak took his tally for the season to four.
He appears to be getting his confidence back, after a slow start to the season.
Newcastle favourites hail Alexander Isak
Following Newcastle’s 1-0 win over Arsenal, Isak took to his official Instagram account to send a message to supporters.
Alongside photos from the game, Isak wrote: “3 big points and brilliant atmosphere today!”
Newcastle’s most expensive signing ever was met with a flurry of comments from Newcastle United stars – past and present.
The Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes commented on Isak’s post, writing: “Very special.”
Joelinton also commented ‘lo mejor’, which translates to ‘the best’.
Speaking of the best, Isak also received a message from Newcastle’s all-time leading goalscorer Alan Shearer.
Shearer replied: “Magnificent goal.”
Isak is now back to his best for Newcastle
It really was a magnificent goal from Isak. It was an excellent header, made possible by a beautiful cross.
But Isak still had to convert, and he really seems to be getting back to his best after a difficult spell in a Newcastle United shirt.
He has now scored four goals in all competitions this season, with three coming in his previous three games. The forward appears to be completely over that toe injury, and it is resulting in him scoring a variety of goals.
Isak has scored three goals in seven days, and each one was completely different. That is the type of striker he is, and it is why the likes of Sean Longstaff think that Isak is world class.
He is starting to prove that once again, and will hope to make it four goals in four games against Nottingham Forest next Sunday.
