Anthony Gordon can take one big positive from Newcastle United’s frustrating draw with Bayer Leverkusen.
The Magpies are returning to Tyneside with a point, as Newcastle United drew 2-2 with Bayer Leverkusen on Wednesday night.
It is a positive point in the Champions League, but it should have been three. Alas, Newcastle United conceded late yet again to throw away victory.

Away from the result, Anthony Gordon can be very happy with his performance. He was exceptional at the BayArena, scoring and providing an assist.
The assist was for Lewis Miley, who Gordon has heaped praise on after the game.
Anthony Gordon is impressed with Lewis Miley’s ‘development’ at Newcastle United
Following Newcastle United’s draw with Bayer Leverkusen, Gordon immediately spoke to TNT Sports 3.
The 24-year-old was asked about Lewis Miley changing the game for the Magpies, after coming on for Joelinton in the 60th minute.

“He’s a fantastic player,” Gordon said.
“He does so well every time he comes on. The games he has started as well. He’s done really well.
“He’s took a big leap this year. You can see the size of his physical and mental development. It’s been really good to watch.
“He’s a lovely lad so I’m really happy for him.”
Newcastle United’s Lewis Miley decision is justified even further
The more the season goes on, the more influential Lewis Miley becomes.
The 19-year-old has enjoyed a really strong few weeks, starting with his display in the 4-1 win over Everton.
At the age of 19 years 7 months and 9 days, Lewis Miley becomes Newcastle’s youngest Champions League scorer ever! But who had the record before him?
Howe has put his faith in the teenager, and it is paying off. Miley was brought on to be a game-changer against Bayer Leverkusen, and he was exactly that. It was a great performance by him, capped off by his header that made him Newcastle’s youngest Champions League goalscorer ever.
Miley really is moving up the gears, which further justifies the decision the club made during the summer.
Geordie Boot Boys reported that Miley wanted to leave Newcastle United on loan, but was denied that opportunity.
Newcastle thought it was best for Miley to continue his development on Tyneside, and that has proven to be the correct call.
Fast forward a few months and he is scoring in the Champions League, while there is a belief now that Miley should start against Sunderland in the derby ahead of Joelinton.
