Newcastle United need Yoane Wissa or Jorgen Strand Larsen more than ever after agreeing to sell Alexander Isak.
It is going to be an incredibly busy deadline day, with Newcastle agreeing to sell Isak to Liverpool for a British record fee of £125million.
Newcastle are looking for an Isak replacement, but are in a race against time to get one through the door. The transfer window closes at 7pm, on what will be a frantic day for the Newcastle United owners and recruitment team.
For a long time, the expectation was that Yoane Wissa would arrive. Then Jorgen Strand Larsen emerged as a target, with the Norway international also keen to move to St James’ Park.
Neither deal has materialised, and it remains to be seen if that will change on deadline day.

Yoane Wissa more likely to join Newcastle United than Jorgen Strand Larsen
If it does, the Daily Mail’s Craig Hope has named which player is more likely to arrive at St James’ Park before 7pm.
Hope has stated on X that, ‘as of this morning’, Newcastle are more likely to complete a deal for the Brentford striker than Wolves’ number nine.
He wrote: “Newcastle resume search for second striker today. As of this morning, Yoane Wissa is more possible than Jorgen Strand-Larsen, who has been told by Wolves he will not be sold. Sources say he has accepted that stance. NUFC negotiating on fee with Brentford, but work to do.”
Throughout this saga, Wolves have insisted Strand Larsen is not for sale. The fact he has now accepted that decision is significant, despite previous reports that he wanted to join the Newcastle United squad.
That is not going to happen, with Wissa a more probable signing. However, that deal remains problematic.

How much Brentford want for Yoane Wissa
On Sunday, Wissa released a statement on his future. It was very similar to what Alexander Isak did earlier this summer, with the DR Congo international claiming that promises have been broken.
Wissa states Brentford agreed to sell him if a suitable offer came in, but seemingly that type of offer has not arrived.
It has been reported that Brentford want £65million for Wissa, which is a lot more than what the Magpies are willing to pay.
Geordie Boot Boys understand that Newcastle offered £40million for Wissa almost two weeks ago, but it was rejected.
