Brentford have delivered their response to Newcastle United’s newest offer for Yoane Wissa.

The Yoane Wissa situation has been getting incredibly messy, but there has still been hope of the striker arriving at St James’ Park.

Wissa believes Brentford told him he could leave this summer, but that has not happened with less than two weeks to go before the summer transfer window closes.

Newcastle had hoped to sign Wissa last week ahead of facing Aston Villa, but that clearly did not happen.

Now a new offer has been submitted, but Toon officials will not like Brentford’s response.

Brentford reject Newcastle United’s newest Yoane Wissa offer

Transfer expert Graeme Bailey has exclusively told Geordie Boot Boys that Newcastle United have offered £40million for Wissa, but it has been rejected.

There was hope that these improved terms would be enough for the Bees to accept, but that has not proven to be the case.

“Newcastle are not letting go of the Wissa situation,” Bailey told Geordie Boot Boys.

“They want him and have been confident about getting him. The situation has become a bit messy and complicated but Newcastle don’t think there is anything that can’t be worked through. The issues are really at the Brentford end.

“Newcastle have got to £40million and believed that was a good offer. However, Brentford have turned it down.”

Newcastle United have looked at alternatives to Yoane Wissa

It remains to be seen how Newcastle United will respond to Brentford rejecting their latest offer for Wissa.

They can either increase their offer even further, or move on to other targets.

The Magpies do have alternatives to Wissa that they can pursue. It has been reported that Newcastle want Jorgen Strand Larsen from Wolves.

The Norway international would be an interesting addition to the Newcastle United squad. However, it has been reported that Wolves will only sell Strand Larsen for a big offer. It is unclear what Wolves would consider to be a ‘big offer’.
