Newcastle are reportedly eyeing up a move for Boca Juniors star Kevin Zenon, here is everything you need to know about the Toon target.

The 2024 summer window was a frustrating one, to say the least for Newcastle United.

The Magpies failed in their approach of Marc Geuhi meanwhile Eddie Howe’s dream to sign a new winger also failed to come to fruition.

Director of Football Paul Mitchell has been criticised by the likes of Alan Shearer for failing to bring new faces in but it seems the Toon transfer committee are already planning ahead for the next window.

This is because Newcastle are reportedly targeting a move for Kevin Zenon, with the Magpies set to be planning a £15m swoop for the Argentina international.

With that being said, here is all you need to know about the Toon’s latest transfer target.

Kevin Zenon career so far style of play

Kevin Zenon has been highly rated in Argentina from an early age. The Boca Juniors star caught the eye of Lionel Messi’s father after trialing out for Newell’s Old Boys as a child (as reported by El Litoral).

Having failed to land a spot at Old Boys, Zenon was then recommended to Union Santa Fe by Jorge Messi – later breaking into the Santa Fe first team aged 19.

Zenon spent four years there before joining South American giants Boca Juniors in January 2024. He has since become a key member of the Boca squad, attracting interest from around Europe in the process.

The 23-year-old was recently part of the Argentina side that reached the quarter-finals of the Olympic games.

Kevin Zenon style of play

Zenon’s key asset is his versatility. The Boca man can play anywhere across the midfield as well at full-back, which could provide Eddie Howe with some much-needed tactical flexibility if Newcastle were to get the deal over the line.

When playing full-back Zenon often bombs on and gets involved in the final third, regularly providing goals and assists.

Able to both invert and overlap, the youngster has the game IQ of someone way past his years.

If the Magpies were to secure the signature of Zenon, it could turn out to be a very smart signing by Paul Mitchell and Co.

Kevin Zenon stats

Zenon has played for two clubs during his professional senior career whilst also featuring for Argentina at youth level.
