Craig Hope has provided an update on what Newcastle United signing Nick Woltemade means for Yoane Wissa’s potential move to Tyneside.

The Magpies have spent the whole summer trying to sign a new striker, and thankfully, it looks as though they are set to get one over the line before the transfer deadline on Monday.

It is a case of better late than never for Newcastle United, who have agreed a fee of £69m for VfB Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade. The German international has travelled to Tyneside for his medical, which he took on Friday morning.

While Woltemade is a significant deal, Geordie Boot Boys understand that Newcastle want to sign a second striker, which would allow Alexander Isak to leave the club.

Newcastle are still interested in signing Yoane Wissa, and Craig Hope has now provided an update on what the Woltemade deal means for his hope of getting a deal done.

Yoane Wissa’s agent on standby as Newcastle United retain interest

It has been said that Wissa is ‘desperate’ to join Newcastle, but the striker has not been able to get his wish as of yet.

The 28-year-old is yet to appear for Brentford this season, and is taking a similar stand to Isak, who is refusing to play for the club to which he is contracted. It was reported earlier this month that Wissa’s agents were in the UK to speak with Newcastle, with the hope that a deal could be made before the start of the Premier League season. However, Newcastle’s second offer of £35m was rejected.

Wissa still wants the move, and Hope has shared that his agent is ready and waiting for movement.

“The continued hope and belief is that there could be movement on Wissa,” he said on his YouTube channel.

“That is one I think they could now pivot to.

“Wissa’s always been there in the background. The player’s absolute insistence and this desire to make this happen.

“His agent is currently there in London, he’s flown in, waiting for the nod to come to Tyneside”

Yoane Wissa to miss Brentford’s next Premier League game

Brentford are trying to sign a replacement for Wissa before Monday, but it looks as though it will be tough for all the dominoes to fall, which would see the DR Congo star move to Newcastle.

In the meantime, Bees’ boss Keith Andrews confirmed that the striker, who scored 19 Premier League goals last season, will not play against Sunderland.

“Copy and paste really from the other day, the exact same answer,” Andrews said on the situation.

“Nothing has changed in terms of my stance and I don’t see any movement.

“It’s very much the same as it was really.”

“Again similar to the other day really,” when asked if Wissa will feature against Sunderland.

“Focused on the group that is settled, I suppose, and not got issues ongoing which clearly Yoane has so the squad will be pretty much the same as it was the other night.”
