Newcastle United have several quality players in their squad.
Eddie Howe is a big reason for that, transforming players like Joelinton and Fabian Schar into players with real quality after underperforming with previous management.
It’s no surprise that many of the players Howe has taken under his wing in his three years at the club have become recognised as up there with the best in Europe. Take Newcastle’s club record signing Alexander Isak for example, he joined and has excelled under Howe becoming the club’s first player to score over 20 goals in a Premier League season since Alan Shearer.
Other players like Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali have also hit great form under Howe with both having an exceptional game in Newcastle’s win against Brentford.
However, a tricky summer transfer window could’ve made proceedings a lot less smooth for Howe with new sporting director Paul Mitchell left to pick up the pieces.

Manchester City would have paid £70m for Bruno Guimaraes in the summer transfer window
In June, Bruno Guimaraes’ £100m release clause expired opening up a new can of worms over his future. While Newcastle fans were afraid he could leave the club he remained, became club captain and is loving life on Tyneside.
Guimaraes recently played his 100th Premier League game for Newcastle but Manchester City’s summer enquiry could’ve changed everything. According to TEAMTalk, sources have stated that the Cityzens made a late summer approach for the Brazilian asking whether a deal of around £70m could be agreed upon between the two clubs.
Manchester City are desperate for a new midfielder following the extended absence of Rodri and speculation over the future of Kevin De Bruyne.
And Pep Guardiola isn’t letting up as it’s stated that Manchester City are currently Guimaraes’ most active suitors, despite Newcastle having a very strong stance on his exit.
Newcastle spent a large chunk of the summer scrambling around to ensure they were within a healthy PSR bracket. The Magpies avoided a points deduction through the sales of Newcastle academy product Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh.
The report also suggests that City were well informed on the situation but a January move for the 27-year-old is out of the question.
Bruno Guimaraes loves everything about Newcastle
It’s clear that when Guimaraes signed in 2022 he truly bought into the project and became one with the fans.
The Brazilian’s children were born in Newcastle and he wants them to know that. On a TikTok from Andy Sixsmith he read out quotes from Guimaraes when he was asked about his feelings towards Newcastle as a city and what the supporters mean to him.
“Me and my family are Geordie now, this is the place that feels like home. he said.
“I want both of my sons to know exactly what I’m doing here to make a special connection for them to Newcastle.
“I feel like one of the fans, I get so upset when Newcastle lose. When I retire I will support the club because everyone has made me feel at home since day one.”
If Guimaraes is to leave Newcastle soon it will no doubt be emotional for both him and the fans.
