Newcastle United defender Lloyd Kelly is suddenly attracting transfer interest.
The 26-year-old only joined Newcastle United in the summer, with Lloyd Kelly arriving on a free transfer from Bournemouth.
But opportunities have been limited, resulting in a shock story coming out of Turkey on Tuesday. It was reported that Fenerbahce have made a bid for Kelly, as Jose Mourinho tries to bring the defender to Istanbul.
The offer comes at a time when Newcastle United need to sell before they buy, as PSR continues to give the Magpies a headache.
However, it does not look like this bid will result in Kelly leaving St James’ Park so soon after arriving.

The latest on Lloyd Kelly’s Newcastle United future
The news coming out of Turkey about Kelly came as a surprise, with Fenerbahce vice-president Acun Ilicah confirming their interest in the centre-back.
According to the Telegraph, Newcastle United were irritated by Ilicah’s public declaration after rejecting an offer for Kelly that was far too low.
The Telegraph add that while the Magpies will listen to offers for Kelly due to him slipping down the pecking order, the proposed fee was nowhere near enough.
While they will listen to offers due to their financial situation, the Telegraph state that Newcastle United want to keep Kelly, with club sources telling them that a deal is certainly not close to being completed.
Lloyd Kelly has barely played for Newcastle United
Mourinho is trying to take advantage of an opportunity, with Kelly’s minutes limited since arriving on Tyneside.
He was a smart addition on a free transfer, with Kelly able to play at centre-back and left-back. He had also worked with Eddie Howe before, which was a bonus.
After featuring regularly at the start of the season, Kelly’s minutes have diminished. Lewis Hall has made the left-back position his own, while left-sided centre-back belongs to Dan Burn.
| Appearances | Starts | Left on the bench |

To make matters worse, Sven Botman’s return to fitness pushes Kelly further down the pecking order.
While it remains to be seen how Kelly feels about his future, Newcastle United should only sell him if an excellent offer comes in. He may not have played much, but his versatility and experience makes him a valuable option for Eddie Howe.
