Alfie Harrison has made quite the impression at Newcastle United since joining the club in January.
The 18-year-old arrived from Manchester City during the January transfer window, with Newcastle possibly paying £3.5million for Harrison if all of the performance-related clauses are met.
He was signed to play at youth level initially, but Harrison was immediately shown his path to the first-team.
It is a path that he is already very much on, with Harrison training with the Newcastle first-team last season.
He has also been involved in the Magpies’ pre-season preparations, and even started for Eddie Howe’s side as they beat Brest 1-0 on Saturday. Harrison received a 6/10 in our player ratings, with the teenager enduring some sloppy moments during the win at St James’ Park.

Alfie Harrison could leave Newcastle United on loan
But Alfie Harrison has shown enough promise in pre-season to suggest that he has a bright future on Tyneside, and Toon fans are excited to see what is next for the midfielder.
And the answer could be a temporary exit.
That is according to the Chronicle, who report that Harrison is available on loan for the 2024/25 season.
It will be interesting to see if a suitor steps forward for Harrison, as he would certainly benefit from regular first-team minutes. He is a brave player who wants to make things happen, but could grow further and become more composed with more senior exposure.
The chance to play regularly in the Football League could be a good opportunity for Harrison, but it is an opportunity that one of his Toon teammates will not be afforded.
Trevan Sanusi will not leave Newcastle on loan
While Harrison is available on loan, Trevan Sanusi is not.
Eddie Howe has stated that Sanusi is staying at Newcastle, after the 17-year-old emerged as one of the stars of pre-season.
The winger excelled during every Toon appearance over the summer, dazzling supporters with his trickery. He certainly is a player who has the potential to develop into a first-team regular at St James’ Park, and the plan is for Sanusi to continue his development on Tyneside.
At 17-years-old, it is probably too soon for Sanusi to go out on loan. That was the case with Lewis Miley last year, and it is the same for Sanusi 12 months later.
