PSR is the reason Yankuba Minteh no longer plays for Newcastle United.
The Magpies were forced to cash in on Yankuba Minteh last year, with Newcastle United officials doing whatever it took to avoid a points deduction.
Newcastle United sold Minteh and Elliot Anderson, much to their reluctance. Eddie Howe did not want to lose the duo, but it was a simple case of needs must.
While Newcastle will regret selling Minteh, they could now be in a position to strike a similar deal of their own come June.

Newcastle United’s PSR transfer opportunity
Another PSR deadline is looming this year, but Newcastle United do not need to panic. With Miguel Almiron sold to Atlanta United for around £10million, the Magpies are very much on course to comply with PSR.
However, there are some of Newcastle’s Premier League rivals who are not in as comfortable a position – and that could present Paul Mitchell with an opportunity.
According to the Athletic, Newcastle are aware that some of their targets could be available for a reduced price due to their club’s PSR position.
The Athletic state that Newcastle insiders believe that the club is in a strong enough financial position in terms of PSR to conclude one or two deals before the June 30th deadline. However, they add that this stance has been played down by others within Newcastle United.
As it stands, it is unclear which Premier League clubs may need to act before the June 30th deadline this year.
No change for Newcastle United with PSR rules set to remain
PSR has ruined Newcastle’s previous three transfer windows, but Eddie Howe’s side could be in a position to benefit this summer.
Regardless, the PSR rules continue to cause every Premier League club a massive headache – and it is a headache that is not going away anytime soon.
That is because the Premier League are keeping PSR rules for at least one more year.
The announcement will frustrate everyone associated with Newcastle United, with the focus on increasing the club’s revenue set to continue.
