Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali is consistently linked with a return to Italian football.
While Tonali may look to move back to his homeland at some point, there’s still plenty to play for at Newcastle United.
Indeed, Tonali was brilliant as Newcastle won the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool earlier this month, ending a 70-year wait for a major domestic trophy in the process.
There is absolutely no suggestion the club would look to cash-in on the Italian international, having waited so long to see him in full flow after the tenth-month betting ban he was placed under in October 2023.
However, Juventus are interested in Tonali, while making a return to AC Milan has frequently been touted as a possibility.

Newcastle set huge Sandro Tonali price tag
Speaking to CalcioMercato, Lee Ryder of The Chronicle provided an interesting update.
Ryder revealed that Newcastle have set a mammoth price tag on Tonali, such is their desire to keep him at St James’ Park.
In fact, the money could be so high that teams in Serie A simply may not be able to afford him.
Ryder thinks Newcastle would be looking for around £75-85million for the 24-year-old, which looks out of reach to Italian clubs right now.
As per Transfermarkt data, only Cristiano Ronaldo and Gonzalo Higuain have been signed for those kind of sums by Italian teams in the history of Serie A.
Sandro Tonali transfer theory was recently slammed shut by his agent
Beppe Riso looks after the midfielder’s affairs and recently slammed the door shut on a quick-fire return to the Italian game.
Tonali’s agent believes clubs in Italy simply cannot afford him, adding further weight to what Ryder is saying above.
That’s not to suggest he won’t ever go back of course but, for the next few years at least, Newcastle looks to be his home.
It took a while for Tonali to work at Newcastle but patience has been a virtue for all involved.
