Sandro Tonali theory finally ended as statement made on Newcastle United star

Sandro Tonali has become one of Newcastle United’s most important players.

Tonali has endured a complicated time at Newcastle since joining from AC Milan in the summer of 2023, losing ten months of his career to a betting ban.

Still, the midfielder has now returned with a vengeance. The Italian is emerging as a vital figure in a resurgent Eddie Howe team, and Tonali’s move to a deeper midfield role has brought about a stunning turnaround in form.

In fact, it’s now strange to think there were doubts about playing Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes together.

However, while they remain difficult to believe, Tonali is constantly being linked with a return to Italy.

Thankfully, his agent has now spoken out about that particular theory.

Sandro Tonali’s agent breaks silence on his Newcastle United future

Tonali’s agent Beppe Riso believes his client is currently one of the very best midfielders in the world.

To that end, he simply does not believe Italian clubs would be able to afford him, and that’s even without taking into account Newcastle’s desire to keep the 24-year-old at St James’ Park.

Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano quotes Riso as saying: “He is one of the best midfielders in the world, he has a price Italian clubs will hardly be able to pay”.

“I imagine a career for him far away from Serie A”.

Sandro Tonali is happy at Newcastle United

Riso’s comments certainly tally with what is being said about Tonali behind the scenes on Tyneside.

Indeed, iNews recently suggested Tonali’s camp believe the midfielder has a burning desire to repay Newcastle after the club stuck by him during the betting ban.

It’s only natural that, at some point, a move back to Italy would appeal at some point in his career. Right now, however, it just does not look anywhere close to being a reality.

Tonali is shining for Newcastle. It’s not been easy, but patience has proven a virtue.

A return to Serie A can wait.
