The summer transfer window will soon roll around for Newcastle United.
Clearly, Newcastle United still have a lot to play for and could yet qualify for the Champions League.
Still, attention will need to soon turn to what could well be an exciting summer at St James’ Park.
Indeed, Newcastle insiders think they can spend this summer, hopefully after having come through the very worst of their problems with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.
A new striker could be on the agenda for Eddie Howe, too.
While Alexander Isak is undoubtedly the first choice at Newcastle, the options behind him are not overly convincing.
Callum Wilson is out of contract this summer and it remains to be seen if he will be kept on. Newcastle are excited about William Osula’s potential but the forward is yet to wholly convince.
With that in mind, players have been linked with a move to the club. One of those is Fiorentina forward Moise Kean – a teammate of Sandro Tonali for Italy – though a new update has now emerged.

Moise Kean transfer update amid Newcastle United interest
Newcastle have previously been linked with a move for Kean, who has rebuilt his career following a difficult spell at Everton between 2019 and 2023.
The Italian forward has since played for Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus (where he initially broke through) but looks to have found a happy home at Fiorentina.
Kean has scored 16 goals in 27 Serie A appearances this season, making him the second-highest scorer behind Atalanta’s Mateo Retegui.
Such has been the level of his form, Fiorentina president Rocco Commisso has confirmed his desire to keep the 25-year-old, alongside fellow star performer David De Gea.
He did, however, admit that a compelling offer may change that.
Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, Commisso said: “I want him to stay. Then, if he can’t stay and somebody makes an offer, we’ll see. I’ll try to retain him because he’s important to Fiorentina.”
Moise Kean release clause after Newcastle United transfer link
Kean is said to have a release clause worth around £44million in his contract with the Italian club.
With that in mind, it’s hard to imagine Newcastle going that high on what would effectively be a back-up striker.
That’s not to suggest signing Kean wouldn’t make the squad stronger, just that Isak’s status as Newcastle’s first-choice centre-forward is undisputed.
Given where they are at in their respective careers, the Italian international would surely be a better option than Wilson to cover Isak, while much more experienced than Osula.
Still, at that kind of price point, a move may be difficult.
