Vasco da Gama club chief Paulo Bracks has dropped a major claim about the future of Newcastle target Andrey Santos.
Speaking with Vasco Notícias, the executive couldn’t guarantee how much longer the 18-year-old will remain at the Rio de Janeiro outfit.
“The whole world wants Andrey, but he’s Vasco’s, he has a contract with us, a strong contract, he should go to the U20 South American, and I can’t guarantee what will happen to him,” Bracks said.
“I would really like him to stay with us, this year, in this Serie A project of ours, but he is an athlete who, on the market shelf, is being very targeted.”
According to The Northern Echo, the Magpies are planning to make an offer for the South American starlet in January.
Santos could leave
It appears Bracks has conceded to the fact that Santos won’t be a Vasco player for much longer.
This will come as a huge boost to Newcastle’s recruitment team, as he is one of the most exciting prospects in Brazilian football.
In 33 Serie B games last season, Santos netted eight goals from a more defensive midfield position.
Having seem him dominate in the middle of the park, Brazil legend Juninho Pernambucano claimed the teenager will become a ‘more complete player’ than he was.
Adding the likes of Garang Kuol to the Toon’s youth development setup, Santos would be another incredible addition to Eddie Howe’s squad.
