Newcastle United have Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson on their radar as they search for a potential Alexander Isak replacement.

The Magpies might suddenly be in the market for a new superstar striker, with Alexander Isak keen to leave.

Liverpool are preparing an Isak bid, as Newcastle United look for players who could replace him at St James’ Park.

As well as Benjamin Sesko, Newcastle are looking at Nicolas Jackson too. Chelsea are willing to sell the 24-year-old, having bought Liam Delap and Joao Pedro this summer. They are two players who the Magpies attempted to buy.

Newcastle United and Chelsea are £15million apart on Nicolas Jackson’s valuation

Jackson would not be Newcastle United fans’ first choice to replace Isak. While he has potential, his two seasons in the Premier League were far from breathtaking.

But Newcastle obviously see something special in Jackson, based on how much they think he is worth.

According to the i Paper, Newcastle United believe that Jackson is worth around £65million.

That would make him Newcastle’s most expensive signing ever, eclipsing the £63million deal that brought Isak to St James’ Park in 2022.

It is a staggering amount of money for a player who has 24 goals in 65 Premier League appearances, but even that would not be enough to bring him to Tyneside.

The i Paper add that Chelsea actually believe Jackson is worth £80million.

Newcastle United are better off gambling on Benjamin Sesko than Nicolas Jackson

To the naked eye, Sesko feels like a better buy for Newcastle than Jackson. However, their respective records over the past couple of seasons are not too different.

2023/24 season2024/25 seasonTotal
Benjamin Sesko18 goals in 42 games21 goals in 45 games39 goals in 87 games
Nicolas Jackson17 goals in 44 games13 goals in 37 games30 goals in 81 games

In that respect, Jackson might be the better buy as he at least has Premier League experience. However, Sesko is slightly younger and is the player with more potential.

While Premier League experience is important, Newcastle can counter that by striking a deal for Yoane Wissa too. He knows what it takes to score in the top flight of English football, netting 19 goals last season.

For the money that Chelsea are looking for, Newcastle are better off prioritising Sesko. The only concern there is Manchester United, who are also trying to sign the Slovenian.

If Sesko does move to Old Trafford, Jackson might suddenly become more appealing to the Magpies.
