At some point, Alexander Isak will leave Newcastle United whether fans like it or not.

Hopefully, it’s not for another season at least. Isak has a lot more to do at Newcastle United before the club can even consider selling him.

Indeed, Newcastle have no plans to sell Isak despite interest from the likes of Liverpool and Arsenal.

Still, everything comes to an end at some point and the club already have a plan. Newcastle want to sell Isak to a foreign club when the time is right.

Any club need to have a contingency plan in mind, that is purely part of the process. Even if it is not something to consider until a few years down the line, Newcastle will need to think about replacing Isak.

One of the names previously mentioned has been RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko. Still, his wage demands may be too much for even the aforementioned Gunners.

Benjamin Sesko’s wage demands

Sesko has been linked with Newcastle before but back in May, The Daily Mail suggested the RB Leipzig forward was viewed as a potential replacement for Isak.

Again, it must be stressed that there’s no suggestion that Isak is leaving St James’ Park, just that Sesko was viewed as a potential heir if it were to happen.

Now, the 22-year-old is a target for Arsenal. According to The Sun, however, his wage demands could prove a stumbling block.

While the Gunners are prepared to meet Sesko’s £70million asking price, the player’s demands are understood to be “much higher” than what Arsenal had planned to offer.

Benjamin Sesko compared to Alexander Isak

While Sesko is certainly highly rated, his statistics just do not compare to Isak’s last season.

Isak scored 23 goals compared to Sesko’s 13 in 34 and 30 games respectively.

The Sweden star also recorded more assists (six to five), while Isak averaged more shots and key passes per game, providing the same amount of dribbles over the same period.

The 22-year-old Sesko is slightly younger than the 25-year-old Isak and still has time to grow.

It’s not to suggest Sesko wouldn’t be a good signing for a Premier League club, just that Isak is clearly far ahead right now.
