Like most Newcastle United fans, we are starting to get sick of the James Maddison transfer saga.

The ‘will he, won’t he’ debate is raging on, with the Magpies and Tottenham battling it out for the 26-year-old. But it remains unclear where Maddison is going to end up.

One minute it is being claimed that Spurs are his preference, the next it is suggested that Newcastle is his most likely destination. All the while, there are stories that Leicester will not budge on their £60million valuation.

There appears to be a lot of gamesmanship going on right now, with multiple different stories coming from different directions.

It is hard to keep track of what is going on. For some, they will not be interested until a transfer for Maddison is made official, whether it is to Newcastle or Spurs.

Talk of the midfielder preferring to move to London did cause some concern among supporters, but now a new story from Newcastle World has suggested that uprooting to the North East remains an option, and one that Maddison has actively enquired about.

James Maddison asks about Newcastle life

According to Newcastle World, Maddison has asked for information on where the best place to live in Newcastle is, and what life is like in the city. They state that he has also asked for an insight on the club itself.

He has been in the best place to receive that kind of information, having spent the international break alongside Toon heroes Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson. They are two fantastic advocates for the club, and will have been able to give Maddison some great insight into what it is really like to be in the North East.

For Trippier, he has played for Spurs and lived in London. He will have been able to tell Maddison what the differences are, and hopefully why Tyneside is a much better place to reside.

As for Wilson, he has witnessed the transformation at St James’ Park and the change in attitude in the city, and that is likely a message he will have been keen to relay to the man he could be playing alongside next season.

Newcastle World add that while Leicester currently want £60million for the ‘talented‘ Maddison, there is belief that they will come down to £50million.

Whether or not that is still deemed too much by the Magpies remains to be seen, as the race to sign Maddison rumbles on.

He has asked for the lowdown on life in Newcastle, and hopefully some glowing reviews should be enough to convince him to make the move.
