Plenty of big names have been linked with a move to Newcastle United this summer.
Back in the Champions League next season, Eddie Howe’s side are being touted to bring in a host of household names during the transfer window.
Sandro Tonali, of course, looks set for a move to St James’ Park, albeit the often-linked James Maddison now appears to be joining Tottenham.

Clearly, the club cannot sign every player they’ve been linked with, but it is important to try and keep a track of the names Newcastle have been credited with an interest in.
To that end, there’s been a fresh update in regards to Sadio Mane.
Sadio Mane staying at Bayern Munich
One of the best players in the Premier League during his time with Liverpool, the Senegal international has struggled at Bayern Munich.
As such, he’s been linked with a move to Newcastle this summer, although Senegal manager Aliou Cisse has stressed Mane will remain at Bayern.
“I haven’t heard about approaches from Saudi – what’s certain is that he stays at Bayern,” he told 2STV (via the Daily Mirror).
“He signed for three years. He spent one year and still has two. So yes, for now he stays at Bayern.”

Sadio Mane to Newcastle never seemed particularly likely
While the links made a certain amount of sense given Mane’s success in the Premier League and Newcastle’s need to strengthen ahead of a Champions League campaign, the move didn’t seem particularly likely.
Hailed as “incredible” during his time at Liverpool, Mane would certainly have been a big-name addition.
Still, at 31 and having struggled in the season just gone while on reported wages of £306k-per-week, a move for him at this stage of his career would be a departure from what Newcastle have done in the market since the takeover.
Indeed, they’ve focused on signing younger players to grow with Howe rather than ready-made superstars.
