Both Matty and Sean Longstaff’s Newcastle futures have been the subject of recent reports.
The Athletic claim that Newcastle are having trouble moving Matty on – even on loan.
They say that’s in part due to his £20,000-a-week wages, which are putting off potential suitors in the Premier League and the Championship.
His lack of gametime is also a factor, as is the fact he has just 11 months remaining on his contract.

Clubs are likely to wait the extra year until he’s a free transfer and a loan doesn’t do Newcastle that much good.
As for brother Sean, the Chronicle report that Everton have ramped up their interest.
That’s in direct response to Newcastle supposedly getting closer to buying Joe Willock.
But Rafa Benitez is yet to submit a formal offer for his former midfielder. Perhaps that would come if Willock’s arrival is confirmed.

Neither brother looks to have a particularly bright Newcastle future and that situation will only worsen if Willock comes in.
It’s a shame, as both have had early spells in the first team where they looked decent prospects.
Newcastle fans want academy products to get excited about but ultimately, both brothers could end up at other clubs come the end of the summer.
