Newcastle United forward Miguel Almiron signed a new contract last month, but that doesn’t mean his future is guaranteed.
According to the Telegraph, Newcastle could potentially sell Almiron during the summer transfer window if they receive a big enough offer.
The 29-year-old extended his stay at St James’ Park on the eve of the Carabao Cup final. The club announced that Almiron had put pen to paper on a new three-and-a-half year deal that would keep him at St James’ Park until the summer of 2026, much to the delight of his teammates.
He massively deserved it for his performances this season so far. The Paraguayan has been one of our star players, and is currently the Magpies’ top scorer with 10. It is the first time he has hit double figures since he moved to England at the beginning of 2019.
Almiron has been a revelation this season, and developed into a key player under Eddie Howe, who called him ‘pivotal‘ back in December. However, that does not mean that his place in the squad is guaranteed beyond the end of the current season.

It would be a big surprise if Newcastle decide to sell Miggy this summer. As the Telegraph writes, it would depend on the size of the summer.
If someone came in and put £40million on the table, it would be difficult to say no. He cost £21million four years ago, and turns 30 next year.
The likelihood is that Almiron could find himself fighting for his place in the starting XI over the next year. Anthony Gordon arrived in January to provide competition, and there will likely be more investment in attacking areas this summer. It has been reported that Howe wants two new forward players ahead of next season.
That might make it difficult for Almiron to be a regular starter, so it will be up to him to rise to the challenge. He has certainly done that this season, and has performed better than anyone could have expected.
