The Toon had a £31m offer rejected by the Bundesliga outfit, with Gladbach holding out for a much larger fee in the future.

However, it now appears both PSG and Newcastle are keen on landing the youngster in 2023.

PSG hope to beat NUFC to Kone

At just 21-years-old, Kone has already established himself as a mainstay in Gladbach’s midfield. Thus far this season, he has played 14 Bundesliga matches from the starting XI. Impressively, the youngster leads his side for tackles (2.1) and dribbles (1.6) averaged per game.

Having burst onto the scene, Kone has received major plaudits from various scouts involved in the game.

Back at the end of 2021, talent scout Jacek Kulig claimed the Frenchman is ‘such a warrior’. Hailing his praises, he also went on to say that he is the ‘complete package for a high-quality box-to-box midfielder’.

This certainly fits the criteria that Newcastle have laid out for a potential addition in the middle of the park.

Kone is a young talent with incredible potential and Eddie Howe is looking to build a squad capable of competing for silverware in the future.

Therefore, whilst this seems like a perfect match, PSG’s added interest certainly throws a spanner in the works.
