Newcastle United are planning a big-money offer to lure Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot to St James’ Park in January.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who report the Magpies are very serious about signing the France international.
They claim that the Tyneside club are ready to ‘make a super offer’, in order to convince the 27-year-old to join during the winter window.
Rabiot’s contract with Juventus expires at the end of the season, so January is the last chance they have to cash-in on the player.
Furthermore, the Frenchman has also revealed that he would love to play in the Premier League.
Newcastle to move for Rabiot in January
For the last few seasons, Rabiot’s form has fluctuated. At times he has looked brilliant, whereas in instances, he has been somewhat disappointing.
However, despite this, the Juventus man has enjoyed a strong campaign in Italy this season, on top of a brilliant run-out with France at the World Cup.
In 11 Serie A games this term, the midfielder has bagged three goals and two assists. Even in the Champions League, he netted twice in five outings.
For Didier Deschamps’ side out in Qatar, the 27-year-old has played a big part in the favoured XI. He completed the full 90 minutes against Australia, Denmark and Poland, and even came off the bench when the team was rotated against Tunisia. Following this, he is expected to start against England on Saturday.
Hailed by sports commentator T.N. Raghu as ‘sensational’ for his performances in a France shirt, this would sure to be a strong signing for Eddie Howe’s squad.
In order to stop a free transfer in the summer, it is likely Juventus may sanction a cut-price deal in January – making this a shrewd bit of business for the Magpies.
