‘It’s a goal’: ‘Elegant’ player says he would love to play in the PL, amid claims Newcastle want him

Juventus midfielder and Newcastle target Adrien Rabiot has revealed that he would love to play in the Premier League.

Speaking with L’Equipe, the France international has claimed it is a dream of his to play in the English top-flight, as he only got to spend a year in the country as a 13-year-old playing for Manchester City.

“It’s a goal to play in the Premier League,” Rabiot said.

“England at 13 was a very good experience even though I barely did a year (at Manchester City).

“I really liked the atmosphere there, it’s something different from France or Italy.

“I would love to play there in my career, I’ve always said that.”

According to Calciomercato, the Magpies have shown an interest in bringing the Serie A player to St James’ Park.

Although this move would have been disapproved of in the past, the 27-year-old has enjoyed a strong campaign in Italy this season.

In 11 Serie A games, the midfielder has bagged three goals and two assists. Even in the Champions League, he netted twice in five outings – however, he couldn’t save what was a disappointing run for the Turin outfit.

Rabiot has also been impressing at the World Cup with France. Although he wouldn’t usually start, the midfielder has been fielded by Didier Deschamps due to injuries.

However, his inclusion paid off, as he bagged a goal and an assist in Les Bleus’ opening fixture against Australia.

Hailed by his national team captain Hugo Lloris as an ‘elegant player’, the Frenchman could be a brilliant addition to Eddie Howe’s squad. This is especially so if they sign him on a free transfer, with his Juventus deal set to expire at the end of the season.
