Newcastle United are set for a major clear-out in the summer, with five players expected to leave St James’ Park.
That’s according to The Northern Echo, who name-drop the various players who are unlikely to remain on Tyneside beyond the expiry of their contracts at the end of the season.
Five Magpies are due to become free agents in the summer. At this stage of the campaign, it’s unlikely that any of them will be granted an extension.

Goalkeeping duo Loris Karius and Mark Gillespie could be released, following the return of Martin Dubravka from his loan at Manchester United.
Ciaran Clark, who is currently on loan at Sheffield United, is expected to leave, as is Paul Dummett and Matty Longstaff.
Five players set to leave Newcastle this summer
With the Magpies still challenging for a place in the top-four and subsequent Champions League qualification, Eddie Howe will be looking to add quality in depth to his squad this summer.
It will be imperative for Newcastle to have numerous first-team quality players across the pitch, as rotation will be a key to success next season.
Therefore, the five who are surplus to requirements at St James’ Park would open up the possibility for reinforcements if they were to depart the club.

The likes of Clark and Dummett will be remembered fondly for their time at Newcastle, the former having made 129 appearances and the latter having made 205 appearances.
However, with the club’s growth and progression, comes the time to move on. Therefore, this will be in the best interests of everyone involved.
